Term 1 has started off with a burst of energy and enthusiasm as students in classes from Kindergarten to Year 6 attend a special sporting program each week. Specialist physical education teachers from the Sport in Schools Australia Company take the classes for a 45 minute session each week where students rotate through a series of fun and challenging activities designed to build stamina and fitness as well as develop valuable social skills such as cooperation.
Components of the program have included fitness and conditioning training such as strength, power, speed, endurance, flexibility and agility as well as fundamental movement skills such as balance, co-ordination, hitting and striking, throwing and catching.
Students have thoroughly enjoyed using the huge variety of equipment and have learnt valuable lifelong skills as a result.
