Mondayitis is a thing of the past for a group of enthusiastic senior students who now get to 'play' with robots before school each Monday morning. The school has purchased a set of eight Lego Mindstorm kits which enables students to build and program a variety of robots. Whilst only in the early stages, students have already learnt a great deal and have managed to make the robots move. The robotics program encourages students to solve problems and think logically using mathematical concepts as well team work. Students will use software to create programs to make their robots perform certain tasks. Also keep an eye out for the cute little Bee Bots purchased for use by junior classes to introduce the first steps to programming. These little robots look a little bit like a beetle but can be programmed by students to move around mats and perform simple movements. Watch out for these new innovations in a classroom near you!
