Last Wednesday eight representatives of the Stage 2 Enrichment Science Group travelled into the Powerhouse Museum to present their proposal on how to reduce the amount of drinking water consumed at MCPS as part of the Sydney Design Challenge(SDC). Students from Years 3 and 4 had spent term three investigating water issues around the school and devised a plan to reduce drinking water consumption by installing a water purification unit on a set of bubblers. The students made a model of the site and presented their ideas in a Powerpoint presentation along with maps and plans of the design.
At the Powerhouse Museum students had the opportunity to present their ideas to about thirty groups involved in the challenge from all over Sydney and the Central Coast. Not only was it exciting for our students to present their findings to other students but it was a very valuable opportunity for them to learn from their peers as well.
